Maintenance & Care
It is not recommended to wear your wig or hairpiece in the pool or jacuzzi because of the potential exposure to dangerous chemicals such as chlorine and bromine. While you may not go under the water, unplanned splashing may still expose the fibers to chemicals and other agents that could harm the finish and/or color. In addition, salt water is not good for the material and can be harsh and abrasive on the finish. All of the above can put too much stress on your wig or hairpiece and create unmanageable tangles.
Yes. Premium synthetic fibers, such as Kenekalon, featured in The BIC Collection, require a gentle shampoo with NO ALCOHOL in its ingredients. Alcohol is commonly found in even the most elite shampoos and conditioners for human hair. Alcohol strips the sheen of the synthetic fibers and can damage the color. Only use shampoo for synthetic hair that does not contain alcohol. The shampoo offered by BIC is recommended as it contains gentle cleansing and conditioning ingredients without leaving any residue behind, which is vital for artificial hair. Residue from conditioners and shampoo will weigh down the fibers and not allow the style to reshape itself easily.
Mannequins are not necessary in storing wigs as the mannequin can be larger than your own head, thus stretching out your cap unnecessarily. Wigs stored on mannequins also tend to collect dust when stored in a room or on a closet shelf. Store your wig as it was shipped or delivered to you – folded gently in half, ear to ear. If you wig came with a thin cardboard form inside it, use it exactly the same way. Some styles are stored inside out while others are stored right-side out with fringe brushed downward to protect the style. Always store your wig wrapped lightly in tissue paper in a special drawer or other safe place. NO PLASTIC OR ZIPLOC BAGS – as plastic can lock in moisture or residue from some other source. Do not place heavy objects on top of your wig or hairpiece when packing for travel. While they can be useful for display purposes, mannequins are not a recommended mode of storage.
Please see our Wash and Care Instructions for a step-by-step guide of how to properly care for your wig.

The wigs featured in the BIC Collection are not constructed with heat-resistant material, therefore, they CANNOT be curled or straightened with a direct heat source such as a blow dryer, hot curlers, curling irons or flat irons. If curled under fringe is desired, a foam curler may be used during the drying process while the fibers are wet. Secure the foam with a bobby pin, not a clamp- as the clamp will crease the fibers. For more labor intensive styling, special services are available at an extra charge. Contact us for more details and specific information regarding special custom services.
BIC does not recommend the use of hairspray, gel or mousse on its featured wigs or hairpieces because of their chemical ingredients. One of the beautiful aspects of the BIC Collection is that the wigs have very natural movement and ease of shaping. Wigs of yesteryear looked artificial because they didn’t move at all, even when the wind blew, they were stationary. This is an unnatural appearance… YOU NEVER SPOT THE GOOD WIGS – YOU ONLY SPOT THE NOT-SO-GOOD WIGS! If you MUST use hairspray, only buy hairspray designed specifically for synthetic hair that does not contain alcohol. Then, instead of spraying your wig, simply spray your fingertips and work it in to your fringe or part of your wig that needs the spray. Remember to use as little as possible!
Dance…your wash and wear wig will recover beautifully. Once you are home, simply shake out the excess water and hang her upside down, right-side out by the tag to dry just as if you had just washed her. Clean rainwater will not require immediate washing. Just hang to dry. Just remember to never brush her when wet. Use your fingers lightly to separate the fibers after shaking. If you are caught in the rain in the middle of the day and you are not on your way home yet, simply style her with your fingers in the nearest ladies room and enjoy the rest of your day.
The wigs featured in the BIC Collection are designed to keep their shape and style through wear and washing. The color blends offered in the BIC Collection are designed to last – day in and day out. Overexposure to sun or over-washing may affect the color very slightly. It is recommended to only wash your wig or hairpiece every 10-15 wears. Weekly washing is not required as the wigs or hairpieces will not become oily or dirty like your natural hair.
Wig Tips
The wigs featured in The BIC Collection are all made with open-weft construction which allows the flow of air to move through almost every inch of the wig. Anything on top of your head can be warm at times, however, in comparison to many other wigs, these are not lined so they allow maximum comfort and breathability. Two tips for staying cool are: 1. Wear your wig over wet hair out of the shower or pool with ease – it will provide a cooling sensation when indoors or outdoors. 2. If you wear a cap underneath your wig, store wet cotton or mesh caps in small plastic bags in your refrigerator and put one on your head underneath your wig. This has been effective in hotter temperatures for keeping your core temperature comfortably cooler. Hot flashing???? Take off your wig anytime and wet down your head and face, replace your wig and off you go!
There are a few methods for securing your wig. First – adjust the inside straps for the perfect fit. This adjustment can vary depending on the volume or lack of volume of your own hair. Wearing your wig over wet hair has several advantages, one of which is the reduction of volume underneath your wig. Wearing a mesh, cotton or nylon cap under the wig can provide comfort, warmth and something to attach your wig to when using bobby pins or decorative clips. Wearing caps can also provide protection against slippage if you feel that your wig is not staying in place if your natural hair is very fine and slippery underneath. Comb clips that snap into your own hair can be easily sewn into the cap of your wig for secure placement as well. Contact us directly if you are in need of clips and we can place a special order for you. There are color and size options for you to choose from.
The BIC Collection is designed to simply style with your fingers. The crowns may be parted according to your personal preference to the either side and the sides and back may be swept back behind one or both ears or brought forward. The backside may be criss-crossed by stroking evenly to the back with open hands or fluffed upward. Our expert advice on parting is to criss-cross the fibers some to the right and some to the left. This provides a natural look, adds slight volume and keeps the crown from looking flat and directly parted exposing the little support fibers that give the style its lift on the top. Every wig can be styled more than one way and encourages personal, custom styling that best accentuates your best features.
Keep in mind that wigs and hairpieces can be custom trimmed or styled by a professional stylist that understands artificial material and has experience in trimming similar products. Please note that not all hairstylists are experienced in trimming and styling wigs and hairpieces. Many times, only the fringe needs to be modified slightly. VERY IMPORTANT!!—The top of the crown should NEVER be trimmed and fringe should ALWAYS be trimmed vertically only at 1/8 of an inch at a time. “Shattered-edge” style trimming is always recommended. Altered wigs and hairpieces cannot be returned or exchanged – there are no exceptions.

No. Caps are not required. The wigs featured in the BIC Collection are not rough or abrasive and are quite comfortable to wear without a cap. Even if you have very thin hair or have an exposed scalp, many clients experience no discomfort. Some clients prefer a wig cap for added security, or simply for warmth in colder climates. Our preferred cap is a mesh open ended cap.
After you have found your style preferences, please see the available color options listed directly alongside each style. These are the color options specific to that particular style. If you are new to wigs and hairpieces, consider staying close to your natural hair color as you can always explore other color options at a later time. Many of our featured color blends are comprised of multiple colors that enable you to incorporate your own hair into the fringe, sides and necklines of the wigs. If you are ready for a change or simply want to try something different, the color options with darker root color, make is easier for someone with dark features such as dark eyebrows and dark eyes to go extremely light because the root color helps tie in the blend of color with regard to your complexion. Additionally, blue or green eyes look amazingly vibrant with red blends, dark blends with red highlights and light blends with hints of red highlights. It’s quite amazing to watch! Use your eyebrow color as your best guide for color matching, since our natural hair color can change for many different reasons.
Sample color images are designed to provide a visual representation of the color choices. It is important to note that on screen representations may vary depending on the device from which they are viewed.

If you are absolutely set on a particular color blend, you may search our site for that specific color and it will provide you with your style choices for that specific color.
Many of our clients own several wigs for the convenience and rotation of everyday wear. Since the wigs featured in The BIC Collection are of such high quality, they tend to last longer than average synthetic products, however, many clients prefer the option to wear different styles varying in length and color blend.
Human hair offers a very natural look as well as giving the consumer the option to style them with heat, however, human hair REQUIRES the styling where synthetic hair requires very little effort to achieve a beautiful, personal style in seconds. Every time a human hair wig is washed, it must be styled, just like your own hair, using blow dryers, curling irons and flat irons which require hair care products such as mousse, gel and hairspray. In addition, human hair color will fade from exposure to the sun and must be colored and weaved from time to time. Synthetic hair maintains its color beautifully as the fibers are colored in the construction process, not added or dyed after the wig is made. Synthetic hair replaces the need for all of these tasks and expense. Human hair wigs tend to be very dense and feel heavier to wear, where synthetic hair wigs are much lighter and easy to wear for longer periods of time. Above all, the most significant difference is the cost. Human hair wigs are on average four (4) times the cost of one synthetic wig. With that in mind, many consumers value the option of having two or three synthetic wigs to offer them the variety of style and color while providing more than one piece to have ready for them to wear every day. Human hair products are available as “special order items only”. Contact us directly for more information and product availability.
The wigs featured in the BIC Collection are made of the highest quality synthetic fiber known as Kanekalon. This premium material holds its style and maintains its vibrant color blends. Kanekalon is NOT a heat resistant fiber, therefore, you should NOT use blowdryers, curling irons or straighteners as it will damage the smooth, silky finish. Avoid exposure to direct sources of heat such as ovens, intense steam, and BBQs, as damage may occur to the ends of the fibers.
The BIC Collection features standard construction caps and open-weft construction. Monofilament caps provide a transparent scalp and crown that allows for straight-line parting and styling. Some clients prefer the look and feel of monofilament construction to standard construction as a personal preference for extra sensitive scalps. At present, many of the styles featured in the BIC Collection are available with monofilament caps as a “special order item”. Contact us directly for more information and product availability.

Yes. However, in cases when you know you may encounter extraordinary high winds, it is always recommended to wear your wig slightly more snug than your everyday wear settings and to secure it with bobby pins at the crown and behind the ear. Sometimes a light scarf tied under the chin, can provide extra protection while riding in a convertible or in a boat where there is a higher velocity of wind. While hats can provide a stylish look, it is important to remove the hat carefully, so you do not disturb the position of your wig when lifting the hat from your head.
